I'm Xingfang Cai. I live in Singapore, where I advance manufacturing through engineering and applied science.
I studied Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University for my undergraduate degree, and went on to complete a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the same university. My doctoral research focused on subsurface defect characterization using laser ultrasonic techniques for metal additive manufacturing.
During my time at NTU's Singapore Centre for 3D Printing, I developed non-contact laser ultrasonic methods for early defect detection in additive manufacturing processes, and later delivered validated ultrasonic inspection workflows for qualification decisions on aerospace and maritime components as a postdoctoral research fellow.
Today, I work as a Senior Application Engineer at TechSource Systems, the authorized distributor for MathWorks in Southeast Asia. I develop and support MATLAB-based workflows for automated visual inspection, anomaly detection, and applied machine learning, helping engineers across the region accelerate their prototyping and adoption of scalable computing solutions.
I'm a lifelong learner who believes in continuously expanding my skill set. I recently completed the Machine Learning Specialization from Stanford University and DeepLearning.AI, and I remain passionate about applying engineering principles and data-driven methods to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.
